Day Trip

Day Trip to Jamestown, North Dakota

Let the photos be your guide as we attempt to herd 3 young children through a buffalo monument and frontier village:

A herd of buffalo. The rest of them were hanging out over the hill next to the interstate when we rolled into town.

The world's largest buffalo monument. You can't throw out a wad of chewing gum in this town without hitting a buffalo.

I thought I was really capturing something here with the kids and the giant buffalo and the weather in the background. See next photo for not-so-quaint-family-close up.

Little brother kicking big sister. Nice. This is probably where I mention that the girls were fascinated with the giant testicles and "pee pee."

Ah, here's something cute. Interactive writer's desk in the Louis Lamour reenactment shed.

And two cute little girls sitting together in the train station. It was about this time I thought perhaps if a real train came along that I would send them off together on it.

Two words: Heebie Jeebies.

Two more words: Not Right.

And what is this, you ask? It's a giant doll with a missing leg sitting at the piano. Bryce was actually frightened when he realized the doll was missing a leg, then later decided it was a TOY! "Dad, look what I found!!"

Wish this prison shack had been located closer to the beginning of the adventure through time. Bryce nearly became a permanent resident, but it didn't look like they offered a meal service, so we took him home with us.

The highlight of the girls' day. Next time, we take them to the park instead!

Kidding, kidding! Well, sort of.

Did I mention we did this whole tour of a frontier village in the rain? I never even occurred to me that it might be raining in Jamestown. The clouds were beautiful, though!
