At long last, folks. At long last. The quiet books are finished. I started them last fall on a whim. ON A WHIM! Who does that? I finished them on Mother’s Day as a gift to myself. Not the books, the time spent sewing was a gift. Oh, whatever. Let’s get to the books.
Technical, boring stuff: These books are a mixed medium project. All-cotton backdrop pages with primarily felt embellishments, plus buttons, ric rak, velcro, and snaps. Pages and are turned and top-stitched with sandwiched cotton batting. Pages are bound using rubber rings attached to ribbon sewn into the seam of the pages.
There it is! Hours and hours and hours of meticulous work. Some pages came from a pattern, some I made up myself or modified from another idea. My kids have already enjoyed many hours of fun with these books. My oldest took them to school on “technology day” because our Kindle is broken. Her classmates loved them, too. I am glad I got the wild idea to make them!
